While there are standard cribs and mini cribs, full-size crib mattresses are required to be at least 27 and ¼ inches in width by 51 and ¼ inches in length, with a 6 inch maximum thickness by the Consumer Products Safety Commission. This is a strict requirement because you want to make sure the crib mattress size fits snugly against the crib, and there aren’t any more than two fingers able to poke through to avoid baby getting trapped or suffocated.

Do Toddler Beds Use Crib Mattresses?
Yes, toddler beds many times are convertible from regular cribs and are sized to fit the crib mattress. How Long is a Crib Mattress Good for?
The lifespan of a crib mattress varies on the treatment and type of mattress it is. Generally, it should last a few years – but recurrent accidents with urine, vomit or spit can affect the integrity, so be sure there’s no indentations and that it’s still firm when you press into your mattress.
