What is a Mattress Foundation?
A mattress foundation looks like a box spring but instead of having coils, a bed foundation features slats or a solid flat surface made of a corrugated material. They can be used to add support for a mattress on a metal bed frame or to keep the mattress off the ground. Foundations aren’t typically used with innerspring mattresses, rather they are often paired with heavy, dense materials like foam and latex that need support over weight distribution. What Box Spring Height Should I Get?
There are two main types of box springs: high profile and low profile. High profile box springs were the standard size for many years, coming in at about nine inches in height. They’re still a great choice if you don’t want to fuss with your bed too much or if you prefer sleeping higher off the ground. Low profile box springs range from two to six inches in height, but offer the same support as a high profile box spring. Generally people choose a lower profile because these box springs help make the room look less cramped, especially if you’re using a Queen bed frame or larger. Lower profile is also a better choice if you have mobility issues or any type of pain since they’re easier to get into and out of, plus many mattresses are thicker so a lower profile box spring helps you get your perfect bed height.

Are Bed Frames Adjustable?
For the most part, you can’t make a normal bed frame into an adjustable one. However, you can buy an adjustable bed frame from the get-go. Adjustable beds let you raise and lower your head and foot so you can have a great night’s sleep in any position. These beds are perfect for people who have issues like back pain, neck pain, spinal problems and snoring since changing positions is known to alleviate aches and pains. These days, adjustable beds have become incredibly sophisticated, fitting into most bed frames and headboards and featuring trademarks like USB power ports and quiet motor design.
